Do as many of the * problems as it takes you to build 
your confidence to a level that you desire before you work 
on the problems to hand in.
Hand in problems (1), (2) and (3).

   Words you should know enough to set up calculations: 
   Area, centroid, first and second moments, polar moment,
   radius of gyration, perpendicular axis theorem, parallel
   axis theorem.

*) You should be able to do problems 13.3.1-46
   (using MATLAB for 42-46. Type online help for
   MATLAB functions SUM, TRAPZ, QUAD, and QUAD8 for
   some of the options about how to do integrals 
   numerically. You can also use ODE23 to do integrals 
   as you can see  from E&P page 10. See Prataps book
   pgs 110-113 and 122-125 for plotting options).
  
2) a) 13.3.25
   b) When you have reduced the problem to
      a single integral, evalutate that integral
      numerically rather than analytically. 
      Compare your result.
